well a scan an image that isn't made by you
some people scans an image from books and others and post them in the scans section
other people look around on the internet and submit an image from that site
and so that is not their scan but someone elses
basically a scan is an image that u can use to put in your wallpaper that u make
(the charaters in the scan you can put in ur wallpaper but make your oen background)
